What fantastic month … we were stunned by the sheer quality of the submissions that came in. Sadly there can only be two winners to receive the gold medal in a month. Maybe we’ll pick some more designs to get printed, but now, we officially declare the winners first. Rattattattat:

Queen Of Hearts

Congratulations first to Biticol. After muros “Queen Aerosol” another queen, the “Queen Of Hearts” will enrich the scribtee product range. Comments said that this design goes well with the current poker trend. This may be true, but there’s so much more to the design: There are aspects of love, heartbreak, seduction, double-talk, two-faced play and deception to it. And: it looks really good. We can’t wait to put these crazy swirls all over our comfy shirts. Just like a good shirt should be: convincing at first sight but with some deeper meaning. Not really surprising: as you can see on his site, biticol is by far no newbie to T-shirt design.

Second winner (not second place!!) is: Soae. His “Khaotic Order” is one of the designs that really blows you away. We don’t know what this was influenced by (Alice in Wonderland? Dreams? Drugs??), but we’ll ask him soon. However, this is more like a piece of art in a gallery that you look at and which makes you dream and think: A giant soft ice cream cone floating in space, circus acrobats and  animals on ropes held by angels, boarders and heart-shaped planets. Reading this may make you go “wtf”, looking at it makes you go “wow”. Look at the bigger image of it at Soae’s flickr account (he also put up a T-Shirt preview). It’s already set up as my desktop background. I’m eager to hold the shirt in my hands myself, honestly. We’ll be doing our best that this comes out as good as it looks on the screen.

There must be some mysterious substances in Spanish tap water that foster creativity… Two times 500€ and two 50€ shopping coupons go to Spain once more. ¡Felicidades!

Interviews are a crazy thing in the blogosphere: you give and take. Just like love. So while you should check back here every now and then to read some interviews with the Scribtee artists, we too are sometimes asked to answer some questions. So I’d like to take this opportunity to link to an interview I did a while ago with a really good style and fashion site, called Your Ingredient, and what Andrew wrote was just too kind not to mention it here.

So, dear blog colleagues, if you have any questions you want to ask us: drop us a line to the feedback window at the scribtee site (appears when logged in) or simply write me a mail to: r.goldbach [at] I’ll be happy to answer you.

We sometimes feel a bit bad about receiving these compliments for our shirts. Well, we’re working on ensuring top quality, chosing top shirts, caring about top prints, trying to satisfy customers etc. But what makes a great shirt in first place? Great designs, right. So, let’s be modest: you, dear designers and participants, you put the “scrib” in “scribtee”. So we’re using this blog to give these designers some space, introduce themselves, talk about their work and their ideas.

Queen Aerosol

We’re starting off with Spanish designer and graffiti artist Iker Muro who gave us this dope style “Queen Aerosol“. Make sure you check out his website, there’s a lot to see up there. We took some pics from his site to give you an idea. So, here he is in his own words:

cabecera.jpgPlease introduce in a few words:

Iker Muro, illustrator, graphic designer and graffity artist.

Tell us a little about your design, please. Where have you gotten the idea?

I usually draw a lot, so in the process sudenly the idea of a pregnant woman with a spraycan came to me.

Are you making a living with designing?

Yes, I actually work as art director in a publicity agency.

Are you a T-Shirt-Freak?

Yes of course, I have designed a couple of ones for my friends.

What art has inspired you? Who are your favourite artists and influences?

My graffiti influences are mostly spanish great artist as Dibone, Sex, San, Dran, Logan and a lot of may more…

How much do you do by hand, how much with software?

I think its a 50/50

Are there other shirts with your designs available?

Not yet, but I´m working on the new collection for a new brand here in Spain.

So, that’s that. Like on his site he doesn’t use many words, but he’s definitely a visual artist, so let the images talk…
