This came to surface while we were cleaning out our lists a bit: “Children Truth” by Inaki “Kakolak” Gonzales was already ready a while ago, but, shame on us, we only managed to put it online now. And it happens that it is just ready for earth day. So here’s our take on the blog action for earth day. There couldn’t have been a better date for the release of a shirt like this: A child that scribbles the words “earth” and “heart” on the street. Talk about symbolism.
To celebrate this we introduce the shirt for a reduced price of 17 € – only for this day. So you better get them now than later.
The shirt itself is by American Apparel, and it’s good to know it gets printed on a shirt of a company that also is aware of sustainability.
A minor change on the site, and surely not to cool, so here’s our plea for understanding. We added a captcha to the comment field. Captchas are dumb and annoying, we know, for example from Myspace. But we had to.
Every possibility to add a text on a site gets abused by spammers. Scribtee suffered from a row of spam attacks recently. User accounts got hacked and their names used to post links to dubious sites selling medication. Not only once, but sometimes 1573 times (like it happened to All In Me). No joke. No surprise that the site soon had an overdose, the browser hyperventilated and got stuck. This happened again and again and removing the drugs or other smut from our system took valuable time from our programmers.
So if you want to leave a comment now, please be so kind and retype these funny letters in order to prove you are a kind, cool, T-shirt and design loving human rather than a soulless spam bot forcing unhealthy and illegal drugs upon us. We very much hope this doesn’t keep you from leaving your comments. We’re hoping to find a more user friendly solution for the future.
Looking at the contest, march was a very good month in terms of design quality. For those months where more good designs emerge than we can print, we kept the option open to print more than two designs in a month and reward the designers with 300€ or $ (plus a coupon of course).
We did so this month. So congrats to Alvaro Arteaga from Chile. I instantly fell in love with his pirate design “Arrrr … my leg!” and I knew we just had to let this design come to life:
We believe that pirates are cooler than Ninjas, even if they occasionally have one of these weird days…
Second small prize goes to Mark “Snewo” Jenkins for his Spaceman. He describes his idea:
Came up with this design while thinking about how many people wanted to be something exciting when they grew up (like a spaceman) and ended up in a regular 9-5
Talk about it … a Rockstar manqué knows damn well what Mark is saying with that. What I like about this is that this office hero still wears his spae helmet and thus sorta has his head in the clouds. Don’t stop dreaming!
We have two new winners and they are called Jott and Artkore. Sounds familiar? Yep, they’re both guys who already won Scribtee once. However, this is because they submitted cool designs again.
Now with “Don’t Stop Playing” we finally have a tape inspired T-shirt. Jonas “Artkore” did this one and it looks a must-have to go clubbing. You can never go wrong with audio tapes.
And we loved this one by jott. One of his other designs “Me, my friends and I” was also very popular amongst you, but finally we went for “Wild Business“: it’s a little different from All In Me, it looks classy and if you want, you can take it as a comment to the financial misery. I recently read an interesting thought about this “Would the crisis have happened if brokers were mostly female?” Was it, in short, Testosterone drive that made the reckless striving for more and more gain that made the banks finally crash? The picture of a proud deer in a fine suit, showing his antlers, fits this thought pretty well. Whatever was on Tayo’s mind when he made this – he made it well.
Congrats to you both ! Don’t stop playing (with your graphic software) !
